Right after the release of 'sun resonate my summer' during spring '09 Thuoom started composing new material. The starting point for these sessions was to use sounds found from hard drive only. This resulted in old songs - both released and unreleased - revisited and recycled, even though often in unrecognizable forms. For a long time all of the material was lying abandoned but finally it's time for them to see the daylight, showing more progressive Thuoom than before.

summer(live) ep is the first live record by Thuoom, created during the "summer '08 sessions" that also gave birth to 'sun resonate my summer' and 'summer B' albums. During said sessions, Thuoom started experimenting with live sound manipulations. Bits and pieces of these live experiments have already found their ways into released studio compositions, but apart from 2camerae on 'summer B', no live tracks have been released until now. The record includes live versions of studio tracks released on 'EI ep' and 'sun resonate my summer' as well as a live version of a song composed during '[cycles of sleep]' sessions that is heard here for the first time. blib(intro) samples the voice of Mukelo.

'summer B' is the "sister album" of 'sun resonate my summer' [thump304], both conceived during the same sessions last year. Even though the album stands alone as an independent entity, it should not be regarded as the third full length Thuoom album but more a companion to 'sun resonate my summer', providing an alternative view of Thuoom's "summer'08 sessions". The album includes alternative versions of songs found on ealier Textural Healing releases, a live verion of a previously unreleased song as well as two previously unreleased compositions. The album features female vocals by Mala on 'deepslp (light)'.

sun resonate my summer is the second full length album from Thuoom. This album sees Thuoom widening his expression, taking new directions as the four shortest tracks are 100% acoustic performances. Improvisation being the underlying theme of the record, the acoustic tracks are improvisations apart from 'aleatoria'. 'dna/5' has already been remixed on Aava [thump302] as 'dna (slow)' and 'dna (short)'. The remaining five tracks have their share of improvisation as well but also see Thuoom continue manipulating sounds into territories of post psychedelic electronica, taking forestelektro a step ahead. Thuoom is creating his own kind of experimental electroacoustic music with bits and pieces of ambient, avantgarde, drone, forest folk, lo-fi and space music thrown into mix. the album features female vocals by Mala on 'rubicon delayed'.

EI ep is the second Thuoom release, 'ei' being Finnish for 'no'. It is a 4-track exploration into possibilities of human voice without the need for actual lyrics or other instruments. Tracks 'Ei' and 'Eh' originally started as phonemic poems without real linguistic meaning, and developed into the aural representations heard on the record. Apart from the voice of Thuoom, EI ep features female vocals by Mala and male vocals by Mukelo.

Aava is effectively the second solo album by Thuoom, released under monicker Thuuooom reserved for his more ambient-y endeavours. Aava (Finnish for "open sea" or "spacious") is an exploration of long drones in absence of melodies. The album consists of all new compositions apart from 'science', which is basically a remix of Thuoom track 'sci' appearing on [cycles of sleep] [thump301].

Been in love with music since kid, played&composed for over 10 years, started experimenting with solo sounds in 2007.

I regard my music as cut-up poetry made of sounds. You can call it post psychedelic electronica; I like to call it forestelektro. It's basically experimental electroacoustic music with bits and pieces of a cappella, ambient, avantgarde, classical, dark ambient, drone, electro, forest folk, improvisation, lo-fi, minimalism, musique concrete, noise, soundtrack, space music and tape music thrown into mix. I rely heavily on chance in my works.

Influences are too many to list but most importantly Matmos, Kemialliset Ystävät, Björk, William S. Burroughs, environment.

Thuuooom
Thuuooom is the monicker Thuoom uses for his more ambient-y endeavours.

Textural Healing is a DIY netlabel focusing on experimental electronic music. The music is released in 192kbps mp3 format, the cover art is included, and the works are hosted at archive.org. The label was founded in 2008, primarily to be an outlet for the sound experiments of Thuoom, but is open for submissions from likeminded artists.

Philosophy
Everything can be art. Art is everything around us as well as within us. Art can be the act of creating, the process. Art can be the feelings/thoughts a piece evokes. An integral part of art is chance - mistakes for example, or maybe the piece itself leading the way. Art can best be described as being cut-up poetry made of anything and everything, be it sounds, images, words... Art should be shared as long as the conditions required by artist are met.

Demo Policy
Textural Healing accepts demos in mp3 format. Please send a link to your demo to texturalhealing[at]gmail.com. DON'T attach the mp3s to the email. After careful listening you will get feedback, sooner or later, and if the curator feels your offering would suit Textural Healing, we can talk more about that then. Remember that to fit the Textural Healing catalogue you don't have to make a certain type of music - it's all about the feelings it evokes in the listener.
